On Monday new virtual reality (VR) studio Fast Travel Games had its first title showcased during Sony Interactive Entertainment’s (SIE) Paris Games Week (PGW) press conference. At the time a short trailer for Apex Construct was shown detailing some of the gameplay and now VRFocus has several more screenshots for you to take a look at.
The images reveal several new locations from Fast Travel Games’ futuristic sci-fi world of robots, from idyllic waterfall’s and rock formations to surreal areas where houses have been built in various directions like some sort of Tim Burton movie.
Players will have to solve puzzles to uncover more of the story, whilst mastering the bow to kill robotic enemies, complete environmental challenges and more.
“Travel to the shattered future of Apex Construct, where merciless robots prowl the world as a result of mankind’s reckless experiments,” the studio explains. “As these synthetic creatures seek to dominate their new hunting grounds, you must use both your wits and combat skills to survive. In this atmospheric first-person Action/Adventure game, built exclusively for VR, the fate of mankind rests on you – the last human alive.”
Founded in 2016, Fast Travel Games recently closed a $2.1 million USD Series A funding round to support the launch of Apex Construct, bringing its total funding to date to $2.9 million. The company’s founders come from a diverse background of major industry players including Rovio, DICE and EA, and they have since hired talent with extensive experience at additional notable games companies like Bandai Namco and Guerilla Games.
Apex Construct has been confirmed for release on PlayStation VR first, with versions for HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Microsoft Windows Mixed Reality headsets to follow, although dates have yet to be confirmed.
As Fast Travel Games release further details on Apex Construct VRFocus will keep you updated.
