KAT Walk Treadmill Introduces Support For More Titles

Back in 2015, a crowdfunding campaign was launched for a virtual reality (VR) compatible treadmill by a Chinese company called KAT VR. The campaign was successful, and that KAT Walk is currently shipping out to backers, and the team have now announced more VR titles will be compatible with the device.

KAT VR now has over 100 employees, many of whom are working in the research and development areas to improve the KAT Walk treadmill. The team have also been working on improving compatibility for the device, especially for Steam VR videogames.

With the use of an Open VR plugin, most Steam VR titles which support free locomotion can now be used with the KAT Walk treadmill. Titles such as Arizona Sunshine, Dreadhalls, Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, Dead Effect 2 VR, Island 359 and Pavlov VR Shooter can now all be used with the KAT Walk treadmill.

A new KAT Shoe Cover has also been released, so users will no longer need to change shoes to use the KAT Walk treadmill. The shoes cover is designed to be flexible and durable and fit over most types and sizes of shoe.

Other developers have been working with the KAT VR team to bring KAT Walk SDK integration into titles such as Carbon Studio’s The Wizards, and MADVR horror title Araya.
