New PlayStation VR Model to Debut this Month

Earlier today Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) revealed that a new PlayStation VR model, known as CUH-ZVR2, had been designed and was ready for consumer adoption. However, the company didn’t reveal a release date for the product, simply stating that they ‘will share details on the launch timing at a later date’. This date has subsequently been revealed for an initial launch in Japan.

You can find the full story on the new model in VRFocusearlier coverage, as well as a breakdown of the important aspects from our own Nina Salomons in a PlayStation VR CUH-ZVR2 reaction video.

The important update this evening comes from the official Japanese PlayStation website, where a launch date of 14th October 2017, has been revealed. Just as in western territories, the price of the hardware will not change with the new model and the software compatibility is not affected with either existing or future releases.

There’s still no official confirmation of a release date for the new model in either North America or Europe, but VRFocus will continue to follow this story and keep you updated with the latest details.
