DreamWorks Voltron VR Chronicles Launches With New Trailer

If you were presented with the premise of a television programme where a bunch of (mostly) teenagers in brightly coloured suits pilot giant robotic animals which are able to join together to form an even bigger giant robot that battles hostile threats from space – you’d be forgiven for just assuming that someone was talking to you about Saban’s series Power Rangers. Of course it wasn’t the only series to have that kind of plot as the television series Voltron featured some decidedly similar aspects.

Voltron VR - screenshot 1Airing in the mid-eighties the first series of Voltron (or “Lion Force Voltron“) which was itself an adaption of Japanese anime series Beast King GoLion spun off a number of different iterations and adaptions down through the years. The latest sees a new original and updated version Voltron: Legendary Defender, produced as an exclusive series for Netflix by DreamWorks Animation, it also inherited from Universal development of a live-action film adaptation of the franchise which could end up being a definitive markerpoint of the ongoing story between television series, much as DreamWorks already is with its How To Train Your Dragon franchise.

An episodic tie-in experience called DreamWorks Voltron VR Chronicles was revealed just under a month ago for PlayStation VR as well as HTC Vive and Oculus Rift and which has just been released. It allows fans of the series to become a part of the Voltron team and step inside the world of the Dreamworks series and embark on their own adventures through solving puzzles and taking on various challenges.

To celebrate the release, and following an earlier teaser trailer, developer and publisher Digital Domain have now released a full launch trailer for the videogame which can be bought for £10.99 (GBP).
