Sunsoft, the developer behind upcoming real-time strategy (RTS) and multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) title Dark Eclipse have confirmed that the title will be getting a release in the West as well as a Japanese release.
The RTS/MOBA hybrid was showcased at the Tokyo Game Show over the weekend. Dark Eclipse is set to feature a roster of over 20 colourful characters, from those, the player can choose a team of three to send into battle against enemy forces. The aim is to force enemy heroes to retire from battle, capture territory and, ultimately, destroy the enemy base.
Developer Sunsoft confirmed on Twitter that the title would indeed be getting a release in North America in 2018. An English version of the trailer was also unveiled. The Japanese version is also due for release in 2018, a firm release date and price point have yet to be confirmed.
MOBA titles such as League of Legends and Overwatch are extremely popular, but have largely yet to make the jump to virtual reality (VR), possibly due to the relatively small install base for VR hardware. RTS titles, meanwhile have seen something of a resurgence on VR platforms. Sunsoft are confident that the intuitive control scheme and RTS elements will entire users to try the VR MOBA.
