Magical PvP Combat Comes To Oculus Rift

Indie developer Cortopia Studios initially released its magical battle arena Wands on the Samsung Gear VR over a year ago. Now with a revamp and several improvements, the title is almost ready to make its appearance on the Oculus Rift.

The development team have taken the time to improve the title, improving graphical fidelity and textures, adding in the ability to dodge, and integrating 3D audio so players will be able to hear where an opponent is, and dodge attacks even if they can’t see where they are coming from.

Wands will also allow users to go cross-platform from the Oculus Rift and Gear VR. Users can play at home with the Oculus Rift, then pick up the Gear VR and carry on from where they left off, so players don’t have to miss a big fight, even if they are travelling and away from the PC.

The title is set in an alternate version of Victorian London. Inspired by the Steampunk aesthetic, but with magic. Wands is a purely PvP title, where players take control of a magic user who must train and learn ancient spells in order to take down other players in magical combat.

Wands will be released for the Oculus Rift on 28th September, 2017. A price point has yet to be confirmed. The Samsung Gear VR version is still available from the Oculus Store priced at £2.29(GBP). Users will need both versions to take advantage of the cross-play features. The title is also available on the Pico Goblin headset.

VRFocus will bring you further information on Wands as it becomes available.
