Create Your Own VR Worlds With The AlterVerse

The ultimate dream of virtual reality (VR) is a universe of interconnected virtual worlds, each offering its own unique gameplay, challenges, puzzles and exploration. Taking a step towards that goal is The AlterVerse, a VR world and videogame creation platform.

The adventure begins with what the development team at Dog Star VR Studios have termed ‘The First Game’. Users will go through a portal to enter Disruption, the first title in what is hoped to e a series of AlterVerse VR titles, which is set aboard a series of massive spaceships. Several activities are available, including Quest for the Keys, a timed exploration adventure. Multiplayer raids are also available, so players can join a faction and invade each other’s ships, or join in a multiplayer space dog fight. For something a little simpler, there is Draftball, a ship-board ball game. If you just want to relax, there are socialisation areas on the Bridge or the Mama Bahamas Lounge with built-in voice chat.

The team behind The AlterVerse hopes that eventually there will be a whole galaxy of interconnected worlds in a variety of themes, such as Sci-fi, Greco/Roman, Medieval, Pirates, Vikings and more. The aim is to allow players to build their own worlds as well as engaging with existing worlds in a platform geared towards collaboration and social interaction.

The AlterVerse will be available for HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and OSVR, though will also be available to non-VR users as well. A release date of some time in Q3 of 2017 is planned. A price point is yet to be confirmed. Further information and updates can be found on the Steam Store page.
