Megaton Rainfall Release Date Confirmed

Developer Alfonso del Cerro has been working on superhero simulator Megaton Rainfall for quite some time. The tile has been in development since 2015, with many people eagerly awaiting news of its release. Well, it seems to the wait is almost over, as del Cerro has revealed the official release date for the PlayStation VR.

Megaton Rainfall puts the player in the shoes of a superhero, a powerful, almost godlike being with incredible strength and power. The player is tasked with saving the world from an alien invasion, but the player will quickly discover the problems inherent in superpowers when the rest of the world seems to be made of cardboard. Players must learn to be careful when deploying their powers, as missing a target can lead to massive collateral damage – if the level of damage becomes too much, it’s game over.

Megaton Rainfall will be coming to PlayStation 4 with PlayStation VR compatibility on 26th September, 2017. Lead Developer Alfonso del Cerro has also said that the title will come to Steam next year and there are plans for it to be available on other virtual reality (VR) platforms. Which other VR platforms this refers to has yet to be confirmed, but Oculus Rift and/or HTC Vive is a fairly safe bet.

The title will be playable with or without VR. The PlayStation Pro will have an enhanced 4K mode available which will use checker board rendering to offer a framerate of 60fps.

A price point for Megaton Rainfall has not yet been confirmed.

VRFocus will bring you further news on Megaton Rainfall and other upcoming VR titles as it becomes available.
