Samsung are teasing fans of its line of smartphones with a cryptic announcement on its website that says they are planning a big reveal about the latest Samsung Galaxy on the 23rd August, 2017.
Leaks and rumours have already begun to swirl, with the majority of analysts predicting that the announcement will be related to the reveal of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, the sequel to the disastrous Galaxy Note 7.
The Galaxy Note 7 gained infamy after it was recalled twice and discontinued following a series of incidents involving a battery overcharge causing fires. At the time the Galaxy Note 7 was discontinued, many believed that would signify the end of the Galaxy Note line, but the recent leaks suggest that isn’t the case.
Rumours have even managed to pinpoint various features, such as the anticipated Infinity Screen, similar to the Samsung S8 and S8+, though leaks suggest the AMOLED screen on the Galaxy Note 8 will by a massive 6.3 inches, though will ship with a stylus for ease of use and will, similar again to the S8, drop the familiar ‘Home’ button. The screen is expected to have a pin-sharp resolution of 2960 x 1440.
Much attention has been focussed on the battery after the problems with the Galaxy Note 7, the Galaxy Note 8 is expected to feature a 3300mAh battery which can be charged wirelessly or through USB-C. Samsung have gone to some lengths to emphasise the eight-point battery safety process to try and reassure customers.
Reports indicate that the Galaxy Note 8 could launch as soon as 24th August, the day after the expected announcement date, and a few weeks ahead of the anticipated release of the iPhone 8 on 15th September.
