The developer behind Unearthing Mars are already working on its new videogame, with virtual reality (VR) title Reborn: A Samurai Awakens due to be showcased at Gamescom, but the studio are not content with just that, and are planning on revealing another upcoming project at Gamescom.
Reborn: A Samurai Awakens will be the centrepiece of Winking entertainment’s offerings at Gamescom, which is due to take place at Cologne, Germany from 22nd-26th August. The new title, developed alongside Pixel Gear developers Geronimo Interactive, follows the story of Yukimura Sanada, a famous warrior from Japanese history, who is forced to fight alien invaders using exotic adaptations of traditional weaponry, such as laser katanas, pistols or even psychic powers. Reborn: A Samurai Awakens will be available for attendees at Gamescom to try out.
A new mechanic will be featured in Reborn: A Samurai Awakens, referred to as ‘Hack Time’ which allows players to stun enemies with precisely-timed counter attacks. This effect lows down time and gives players the ability to inflict double-damage attacks.
Winking Entertainment are also planning to reveal a secret project hey have been working on, as part of an announcement on the 24th August. There are no current details on what this new project will entail, or even what it is titled, with Winking Entertainment keeping details close to the chest.
Reborn: A Samurai Awakens is due to be released for PlayStation VR sometime in late 2017. Further information can be found on the Winking Entertainment website.
VRFocus will bring you further updates on Reborn: A Samurai Awakens and Winking Entertainment’s unnamed new project as it becomes available.
