In ten days time, developer Ready at Dawn and Oculus Studios will release the much anticipated sci-fi adventure Lone Echo, exclusively for Oculus Rift and Touch. Just to wet gamers appetites in the run up to launch the developers have released a new visually stunning cinematic trailer of the experience.
Lone Echo is a story driven, single-player experience set on a mining colony that’s orbiting Saturn. Players take on the role of Jack, a robot with advanced AI, who’s there to assist Captain Olivia Rhodes. An anomaly takes place and its up to players to figure out what’s going on.
Mixing up problem solving, interactive dialogue and futuristic tools, players will have to traverse both inside and outside the space station using a hands-on approach to movement as they protect the ship and save the crew from impending danger.
The new video gives a brief introduction to the story before flicking in between cuts of gameplay footage. VRFocus previewed the title late last year, saying: “Built utilising Ready at Dawn’s internal engine, Lone Echo is a visually astounding videogame. On par with Robo Recall as one of the best looking videogames – not just in VR, but the medium as a whole – ever witnessed.”
While Lone Echo is a single-player experience the developers have also included a separate multiplayer videogame called Echo Arena. This was officially unveiled during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) last month, with Ready at Dawn then running a free beta weekend for players.
When Lone Echo launches on 20th July, Echo Arena will be available for free for a limited time. As further announcements are made VRFocus will keep you updated.
