Xbox One X vs. PlayStation 4 Pro: A Comparison Guide

Today, Microsoft finally unveiled its long awaited Project Scorpio console, imaginatively titled Xbox One X. While the press conference at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2017 was unfortunately absent of almost any virtual reality (VR) based news – Minecraft being the only real exception – the entire event was solely dedicated to the new console and the videogames that would be making use of its impressive specifications. But how does the new Xbox One X hold up against its closet rival, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s PlayStation 4 Pro?, well VRFocus has put together a quick comparison guide to help.

Going by the details Microsoft has so far revealed, the new console looks set to be far more powerful than its rival, with a six teraflop GPU easily beating PlayStation 4 Pro’s 4.2 teraflop performance.

But what about VR? Well for PlayStation 4 Pro it’s easy, there’s the PlayStation VR head-mounted display (HMD) which has sold over 1 million units since its release back in October 2016. For Xbox One X that question is somewhat trickier. When ‘Project Scorpio’ was first announced Microsoft stated it would support VR, and with the specifications released that shouldn’t be a problem. But alas, there was no mention of any headsets – weirdly Super Lucky’s Tale a spin-off of VR title Lucky’s Tale was revealed.
