Ripstone Games’ Chess Ultra is less than two weeks away from launch, so now is good time to get up close and personal with the videogame in these new screenshots. Chess Ultra has to be one of the pretiest but also one of the darkest takes on the classic board game that we’ve ever seen; it even includes an apparent battle with the Grim Reaper, someone whom we seem to be seeing a lot of lately.
Which is, to be frank, somewhat concerning.
This is not to say that Chess Ultra is all style and no substance, though such aesthetics – especially the aforementioned gloomy encounter with Death – no doubt add a degree of tension to a potentially already tense gameplay, especially when surrounded by it in virtual reality (VR).
Pore over the Chess Ultra screenshots below (which were captured from the PlayStation 4 version of the videogame) and if you’re interested, you can take a further look at the PC equivilent on Steam. For more on Chess Ultra, and all the VR strategy videogames you want to know about, stay on VRFocus.
