KryptCrawler is a first-person, grid-based dungeon crawler action RPG in the classic style which is coming out in summer 2017 for the Oculus Rift and Gear VR.
In a nod to classic dungeon crawler games such as Ultima Underworld, the combat in KryptCrawler is a combination of turn-based and real time which must be mastered to defend against giant spiders, scorpions and skeletons who are the undead remains of previous adventurers. Battle and movement are both controlled with the Gear VR touchpad system and the player can choose between a variety of combat styles, both ranged and melee. Weapons and artefacts are available to find, loot and equip, including some legendary items which give access to unparalleled power and may just be essential for some of the later, more challenging areas.
The videogame comes with ten levels, leading to a buried secret hidden on the deepest level. In order to reach it, the player must disarm traps, solve puzzles and fight monsters, which get progressively more dangerous the further down the crypt they venture.
Developer CrazyBunch previously worked on VR titles Break A Brick, which was one of the first titles to be released for the Gear VR. More recently they worked on Relaxing VR Games: Mahjong for Gear VR and Oculus Rift. The developer previously demonstrated an early build of KryptCrawler at Gamescom in 2016.
