PlayStation VR Ain’t Afraid Of No Ghosts! And Ghostbusters VR is Now Hiring…

A new Ghostbusters virtual reality (VR) experience is heading onto PlayStation VR (PSVR). It will be called Ghostbusters VR: Now Hiring and is expected to be released episodically, with the first part being labelled Act 1: Firehouse.

The new VR experience is heading to PSVR to allow fans to take a look around the famous Firehouse that forms the home of the Ghostbusters. Fans can explore the Ecto-1, take a peek at the basement where the Ghost Containment Unit is, and even introduce themselves to Slimer.

Ghostbusters VR: Now Hiring ties in to the original Ghostbusters movie as well as the 2016 Ghostbusters film, directed by Ivan Reitman, who also directed Ghostbusters II. Reitman said of the project: “Everyone who has wanted the experience of being a Ghostbuster, firing a proton blaster, and exploring the Ghostbusters firehouse, can now experience it for themselves in their own living room,”

Joe Burg, who produced the experience for Sony Pictures Virtual Reality said, “This incredible VR experience extends the reach of the beloved Ghostbusters franchise, giving its legions of passionate fans the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of this classic movie.”

This is not the first time the Ghostbusters franchise has been in VR, however. In 2016, Madame Tussauds opened an interactive VR experience called Ghostbusters: Dimensions in partnership with THE VOID where visitors had the opportunity to shoot hosts with proton blasters just like in the movies.

Ghostbusters VR – Now Hiring, Act 1: Firehouse is due to be available from the PlayStation Store from today, 21st March 2017 at a price point of $6.99 (USD). It should be noted it requires the PlayStation Move controllers to play.
