World’s first gaming convention that is 100% inside VR

Event company In-VR are attempting to launch the first ever gaming convention that takes place entirely in the virtual world.

As the event’s official website points out, many people cannot attend large events like GDC or E3 due to difficulties involved with travel, so a convention taking place entirely in virtual reality (VR) appears to be an ideal solution. The event is aiming to have the same level of quality content as GDC, with exclusive releases, talks and panel discussions.

Three guest speakers have already been lined up: Theo Priestly, HTC Vive Evangelist, Stephen Dineheart, award winning game developer and Manuel Clement, experienced and influential VR designer.

In VR

Exhibitors have been invited to design their VR stand exactly the way they want it, since there is no issue with space constraints in VR. The organisers also say that they are expecting 20,000 attendees from around the world, with the advantage that no one has to queue up for hours. The organisers say that the cost of exhibiting will be much cheaper than most events, due to lower logistics overhead.

A date for the event has yet to be fully confirmed, but the organisers say it will be sometime in December 2017. Further details, including how to sign up as attendee or exhibitor, are available on the official website.

VRFocus will bring you updates on the In-VR event once they are available.
