Virtual Reality World Congress (VRWC) has announced it is accepting applications for it’s Investor Showcase. The showcase allows start-ups specialising in virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) or mixed reality (MR) to apply for up to £2million (GBP) in investment funds.
Entries open from 13th March until 6pm on Monday, 20th March and is open to companies in the VR, AR, Merged Media and 360-degree content applications area who are looking for between £25,000 to £2 million of investment. Applicants do not have to be UK-based, but will be required to travel to the VRWC in Bristol, UK, on 12th April 2017.
An initial review will take place, and applicants who get that far will then be asked to present a Skype review for a panel of judges. 10 finalists will be selected from those presentations, who will get two complementary weekend tickets to VRWC so they can present a live pitch on 12th April at VRWC.
The head of the judging panel will be Mike Hayes, Investment Director at Mercia Technologies plc.
Some of the biggest names in VR/AR are scheduled to attend VRWC, including Microsoft HoloLens, Google Daydream, Oculus Story Studio, and many more.
Dan Page, creative director, VR World Congress, commented: “These are exciting times for VR, AR and MR. Much of the hardware is now available so the focus has shifted to developing creative, exciting applications with real world appeal and impact. This kind of development can be a massive time and money swallower for a start-up, which is why it’s so important investment is made available to them and their creations are made possible rather than thwarted before they get off the ground.”
