Follow Super Middleweight World Champion Badou Jack in 360 with Wonderworld VR

In September VRFocus reported on virtual reality (VR) production studio Wonderworld VR teaming up with SLIVER.tv and ESL for the eSports Counter-strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) tournament. Today Wonderworld VR has revealed its latest immersive sporting venture, a 360-degree documentary series following super middleweight world champion Badou Jack.

This Saturday, 14th January 2017 super middleweight world champions Badou Jack and James DeGale are set to unify the 168-pound class. Last April both champions retained their titles, so Jack and DeGale will face off in a long-awaited unification to determine the No. 1 fighter in the super middleweight division.

Leading up to the fight, Wonderworld VR signed an exclusive agreement with Jack to follow him day and night, recording everything in 360-degrees. “We’re very excited to have this unique opportunity. This will give all sport fans a chance to actually feel as if they are with a professional boxer wherever he goes,” said Simon Romanus, CEO Wonderworld VR. “We have access to him in the ring, at the training facilities and even in his home in Las Vegas. This is the first time ever that a world champion boxer gives this kind of back stage fan experience in VR.”

While Badou Jack added: “I like to take unexpected roads and this is just one of many. When Wonderworld VR showed me virtual reality I was immediately hooked. It is such a powerful media and I want to be a part of it.”

Viewers can find the content on platforms such as Facebook and YouTube. Watch in 360-degrees or in VR with headsets such as Gear VR or Daydream.
