Virtual reality (VR) maybe a great entertainment medium but its talent for education also continues to grow, with developers continually exploring new teaching methods. The latest to see a public release is 3D Organon VR Anatomy by Medis Media, which has launched the content on HTC Vive and Oculus Rift recently.

Designed as a fully-featured VR anatomy atlas, 3D Organon VR Anatomy enables users to learn about the human body, with full 3D male and female body models and systems including: Skeletal, Connective, Muscular, Arterial, Venous, Nervous, Lymphatic, Heart, Respiratory, Digestive, Endocrine, Urinary, Reproductive, Sensory organs, and Integumentary (skin).

There will also be anatomical terminology to listen to, and anatomical annotations sided with comprehensive text descriptions to examine.

While the software can be downloaded by anyone with an interest in Biology, 3D Organon VR Anatomy is ideally suitable for medical and allied health students and professionals. It could also be used for patient education in hospitals and private practices.

3D Organon VR Anatomy can be purchased for Oculus Rift through Oculus Home for £10.99 GBP, but it only supports the gamepad, or mouse and keyboard options. The HTC Vive version on Steam however is more expensive but it does support the headset’s motion controllers and Room-Scale system. The title currently has a 15 percent discount available until 6th January, dropping the price down from £22.99 to £19.54.
