Fans of 2K’s popular basketball videogame will be able to immerse themselves further in the sport as the publisher has just announced a virtual reality (VR) title. NBA 2KVR Experience is set to launch tomorrow across three platforms, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s (SIE) PlayStation VR, HTC Vive and Samsung Gear VR.
NBA 2KVR Experience is a selection of mini-games and challenges, rather than full blown basketball matches. These include a three-point shootout, a speed and accuracy skills challenge, and a buzzer beater countdown.
Along the way players will be able to earn a variety of Gatorade boosts, aiding their shooting acumen, speed, recovery and more to help reach the top of the leaderboards.
The videogame is set at the Indiana Pacers’ stadium, Bankers Life Fieldhouse, and will feature NBA 2K17 cover athlete and All-Star Paul George. George will provide commentary and guide the player by offering tips to help improve their skills in the various challenges.
“Our team consistently looks for new ways to deliver unique, fun experiences for the gamer,” said Greg Thomas, President of Visual Concepts. “NBA 2KVR will give fans even more access to our franchise and test new skills across entertaining VR challenges.”
“As a lifelong fan of NBA 2K, it’s exciting to see them take the leap into VR, and even more exciting that it’ll be on my home court,” said George. “I can’t wait for fans to dominate on the virtual court with virtual help from Gatorade.”
NBA 2KVR Experience will be available tomorrow, 22nd November on all three headsets for £11.99 GBP. Checkout the announcement trailer below, and for further updates keep reading VRFocus.
