Next month PAX Australia will be taking place in Melbourne and for the first time the event will have a dedicated virtual reality (VR) freeplay area for visitors to tryout the latest experiences.
The VR Freeplay Area, sponsored by Harvey Norman Games Hub, will give attendees the opportunity to get hands on with the latest hardware, with Oculus Rift and Sony Interactive’s (SIE) PlayStation VR on display, as well as HTC Vive areas that’ll include some green-screen VR setups and Omni treadmills.
“VR dominates the headlines, yet most people have never had the chance to try it out,” said Jerry Holkins, co-founder, Penny Arcade and PAX. “Trying that technology for the first time is a magical experience, and we’re glad to offer that moment to the tens of thousands of attendees coming to PAX Aus.”
Located at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, PAX Australia will feature hundreds of video and tabletop titles from developers and publishers around the world. Currently the full line-up of exhibitors and panels hasn’t been revealed yet, but organiser ReedPOP should be announcing details soon.
The expo runs between 4th – 6th November 2016 and tickets are still currently available. Single day badges cost $65 AUD, while a three day badge comes in at $165. For further details on the event and to purchase tickets head to paxaustralia.com.au.
