Feral Rites Gets Release Date for Oculus Rift

Insomniac Games has been an ardent supporter of virtual reality (VR) having released the popular Edge of Nowhere for Oculus Rift, whilst developing two other titles, The Unspoken and Feral Rites. Today the developer has now announced that the latter videogame will be released on Oculus’ head-mounted display (HMD) next week.

A Twitter posting by Oculus stated: “VR adventure-brawler @feralrites, from @insomniacgames, is launching September 13 on #Rift!” That’s one week away today.

Feral Rites in made its playable debut at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in June, with the action brawler set in a mythical world. Previously Cameron Christian, Lead Designer on Feral Rites at Insomniac Games described the title, saying: “Feral Rites is what we’re calling an adventure brawler. It’s trying to combine the feel of adventure of Zelda with the brutal combat of God of War. It takes place on kind of a lush exotic jungle island which is a very dangerous world. The big premise pushing it along narratively is you’re the young son of a Chieftain who was slain and you’re trying to find and get revenge on the killer of your father, and so you’re travelling through different parts of this island in different exotic island to find who is your father’s killer and to enact revenge on them.”

No details have yet been revealed on price but on the Oculus website the videogame is listed as a comfortable experience. Insomniac Games also teased on twitter that a new trailer will be coming soon to compliment the launch.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of Feral Rites, reporting back with any further announcements.
