PlayStation VR Games Get Their First Sale In The EU

PlayStation VR Games Get Their First Sale In The EU

Oculus has its winter sale, Steam has one too, and Sony isn’t missing out, at least in the EU. The PlayStation January sale is now on for European PS4 owners, and it includes the first sale of PlayStation VR games.

12 games are featured in the sale, all of which were featured at the launch of the headset back in October. It’s not the most exciting sale, though there are some welcome price cuts. Rebellion’s Battlezone [Review: 8/10], for example, has been dropped 30% from £49.99 to £34.99, which is the best price we’ve seen for it yet. Guerrilla Cambridge’s excellent multiplayer FPS, RIGS: Mechanized Combat League [Review: 8/10] has the exact same deal in place, while EVE: Valkyrie [Review: 9/10] has had 36% taken off to get down to £34.99.

Perhaps the best deal, though is for Driveclub VR [Review: 7/10], a rock solid adaptation of the racing simulator, which has had nearly half of its price slashed now costing £15.99. The brilliant Thumper [Review: 9/10] at $12.99 is a good deal, too.

Other deals include Sony London’s PlayStation VR Worlds [Review: 5/10] at £24.99, Cherry Pop’s Sports Bar VR at £9.99, FRAME’s Headmaster [Review: 6/10] at £9.99, CCP Games’ Gunjack at £3.99, nDreams’ The Assembly [Review: 7/10] at £14.99, Harmonix Music VR at £9.49, and No Goblin’s 100FT Robot Golf at £11.49.

Many of these games are also on disc, so make sure to check other retailers as the season of sales gets underway. It’s a good idea to get some of these games scratched off of your list before (hopefully) a wave of much bigger and better PS VR titles starts to role out in 2017. The year will really kick off for the headset on January 24th when Resident Evil 7 launches, and we’re really looking forward to games like Farpoint too.

Hopefully we’ll see some US deals surface in the coming days too. We’ll update this article if anything arrives.

HTC Vive Is $700 From Black Friday Through Cyber Monday

HTC Vive Is $700 From Black Friday Through Cyber Monday

Since it was first available, the HTC Vive room-scale VR system has been priced at $800. For comparison, the Oculus Rift and its Touch controllers will hit that same price when they start shipping in December. You might even need to add $80 to get a third camera that is said to offer full room-scale tracking support with Rift.

But starting at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on November 24 and ending at 11:59 p.m. on November 28 “wherever Vive is sold, purchasers can receive $100 off their Vive purchase (while supplies last).” That means at Microsoft Stores, Amazon.com, Gamestop, Newegg.com, Micro-center, and Vive.com the system should ring in at around $700 plus tax. For the first time, the Vive will also be available at 34 Fry’s locations, as well as online.

This puts the price of a Vive far under the Rift with comparable functionality, though it is possible retailers could also have Oculus deals planned as well. Individual HTC Vive retailers might also have additional discounts, deals or bundles beyond this one too.

HTC will also be holding a sale for software purchased through Viveport, its VR software store. According to HTC, here’s how that promotion will work:

Customers who spend $30 USD equivalent or more between Black Friday and Cyber Monday get $10 USD equivalent back in their wallets. You can also build your library with a $5 bundle deal on three of the most popular VR apps: Soundstage, Arcade Artist, and Lumen.

A number of individual titles will be discounted on Viveport as well.

This is likely just the first of many VR deals announced heading into the busiest shopping season of the year. Check back with UploadVR.com this week for more information about sales and discounts.

Get $100 Oculus Store Credit When Buying A Rift With This Black Friday Deal

Get $100 Oculus Store Credit When Buying A Rift With This Black Friday Deal

Thinking of buying an Oculus Rift in the next few days? Hold off just a little longer and you’ll be able to save yourself a lot of money on software.

Reddit users have uncovered an upcoming Best Buy deal, offering $100 Oculus Store credit when you pick up the VR headset. Here’s the catch: the deal isn’t actually available yet. The fine print reveals that the offer will be valid over a three day period from November 24th to Black Friday itself, November 26th. We can’t speak for the amount of stock the retailer will have over this period, so you might want to make sure you’re ready to order quick, unless you want to wait and see if any retailers cut the price of the actual Rift.

Best of all it looks like this deal allows for home delivery, so you won’t have to face the hordes of eager shoppers at the crack of dawn, and risk getting trampled on as they race for the 4K TVs. You can sit back, relax, and escape into another reality.

$100 could get you a fair amount on the Oculus Store. You might want to head over to our list of the nine best games on the Rift and see what piques your interest. Or you could get your Rift now, wait a few more weeks and then spend that credit on new Oculus Touch games when the position-tracked controllers arrive on December 6th. Oculus is currently planning around 35 titles to launch with the kit, so you’ll likely be spoiled for choice there.

Or you could spend it on Gear VR content but, seeing as you just brought a Rift, that’d be a little weird.

We’re sure to see a lot more VR Black Friday deals when it rolls around in two weeks’ time, so keep your eyes peeled.
