New Mortal Blitz VR PlayStation VR Gameplay Details Revealed

Following the release of a brand new gameplay trailer for the PlayStation VR version of Mortal Blitz VR, Skonec Entertainment has revealed further details on the gameplay seen in the forthcoming videogame. Mortal Blitz VR is set to launch alongside the PlayStation VR head-mounted display (HMD) later this year, and with it will bring a unique first-person shooter (FPS) experience to the PlayStation 4.

A new demonstration version of Mortal Blitz VR for PlayStation VR was made available last month during the Ani-Com & Games event, 29th – 31st July 2016, Hong Kong. Making its public debut for the first time, Mortal Blitz VR was hosted on Sony Interactive Entertainment’s (SIE) official booth at the event.

Within this demo, Skonec Entertainment revealed a brand new gameplay mechanic: an Anti-Gravity Control (AGC) system. Well received by participants at the event, the AGC system allows players to take a different approach to combat with movement not restricted to locomotion. Furthermore, the uncoupled weapon control system previously revealed by VRFocus was showcased for the first time, offering positional tracking of the PlayStation Move controllers for shooting at multiple targets.

Skonec Entertainment has previously confirmed to VRFocus that Mortal Blitz VR will launch alongside the PlayStation VR internationally, which is currently scheduled to arrive on 13th October 2016. No price point has yet been announced for Mortal Blitz VR, but VRFocus will be certain to keep you updated with all the latest details on this growing VR franchise.

  • Batman: Arkham VR
  • Battlezone
  • Bound VR
  • EVE Valkyrie
  • Farpoint
  • Hatsune Miku: VR Future Live
  • Headmaster
  • Here They Lie
  • Hustle Kings VR
  • PlayStation VR Worlds
  • Resident Evil 7 biohazard
  • RIGS: Mechanized Combat League
  • Robinson: The Journey
  • Super Stardust Ultra VR
  • The Playroom VR
  • Tumble VR
  • Until Dawn: Rush of Blood

PlayStation VR Aim

Final Fantasy XV Delayed – What Does this Mean for Final Fantasy XV: VR Experience?

Recent reports suggest that a forthcoming announcement will confirm a delay in the release of Final Fantasy XV for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Earlier this year at Sony Interactive Entertainment’s (SIE) Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) press conference, the latter was confirmed to be receiving a virtual reality (VR) tie-in release: will this also be impacted by the delay?

Final Fantasy XV: VR Experience screenshot

The current belief is that Final Fantasy XV was set to launch ahead of Final Fantasy XV: VR Experience, given that the videogame title was originally due to arrive on 30th September 2016, while the PlayStation VR head-mounted display (HMD) itself would not arrive til two weeks later. However, now that Final Fantasy XV has the suggested release date of 29th November, according to Gamnesia, will Final Fantasy XV: VR Experience’s release date be affected?

While there was no confirmation of the intended release strategy for Final Fantasy XV: VR Experience, it was assumed by many that those who purchase Final Fantasy XV would receive a pack-in code with physical copies of the videogame (distributed via PlayStation Network inbox for digital purchases) that would later allow them to download Final Fantasy XV: VR Experience upon release. However, given that Final Fantasy XV now looks set to arrive after the launch of the PlayStation VR HMD, it could well be that Final Fantasy XV: VR Experience is also delayed until November, with the two launching in tandem.

Of course, what this could also mean is that Final Fantasy XV: VR Experience remains on-track for PlayStation VR launch and could be released according to the originally assumed schedule, acting as a primer for the full Final Fantasy XV release.

No official information has yet been issued regarding the delay in Final Fantasy XV’s release, and thus neither has there been any talk about the release of Final Fantasy XV: VR Experience being affected. VRFocus will keep you updated with all the latest details on the launch of Final Fantasy XV: VR Experience as well as other VR titles coming from Square Enix.

Full PlayStation VR Line-up Revealed for Insomnia58

Last month Multiplay, the organiser behind the Insomnia58 videogame event which takes place in a couple of weeks at the NEC, Birmingham, UK, revealed Sony Interactive Entertainment’s (SIE’s) virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) PlayStation VR would be making an appearance. At the time only Rebellion’s Battlezone title had been announced as being playable but now the full content line-up has been unveiled.

Farpoint_2

Alongside Battlezone those attending Insomnia58 will also be able to demo RIGS Mechanized Combat League, PlayStation VR Worlds and Farpoint. As with a lot of videogame events featuring VR headsets, SIE will be running a pre-book appointment system so that all attendees will be able to try PlayStation VR without having to wait in long queues. The appointments run every half hour starting from 11am and running through to 5:30pm. Each half hour slot doesn’t allow you select an actual title just the appointment itself, so it’s likely that you just have to chose which title you want to play when you turn up. The booking process also asks confirmation of an Insomnia ticket and states that only one trial can be booked and its not transferable. Also don’t be late or your slot might be reallocated.

RIGS Mechanized Combat League is a multiplayer first-person shooter (FPS), where players are put into teams of giant sized robots to fight it out in various modes. PlayStation VR Worlds is a compilation of five smaller experiences: Into The Deep, VR Luge, The London Heist, Scavengers Odyssey and Danger Ball. Finally there’s Farpoint, a PlayStation VR exclusive FPS that will be available to use with the new PlayStation VR Aim controller.

SIE will be launching PlayStation VR worldwide on 13th October 2016. If you’re interested in pre-ordering a headset it might be a little late as most retailers sold-out of their allotted HMDs very quickly, even with SIE releasing more in several phases.

PlayStation VR Worlds Goes Gold

The PlayStation VR head-mounted display (HMD) is due to launch October 2016, with more than 30 titles promised for launch. One of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s (SIE) key launch titles, PlayStation VR Worlds, has become the first of these titles revealed to have finalised development.

PlayStation VR worlds Case

PlayStation VR Worlds is set to act as the entry title into the world of virtual reality (VR) for console gamers. Bundling a selection of smaller experiences – including The London Heist and Into the Deep – into a single package, PlayStation VR Worlds stands to become the PlayStation VR’s Wii Sports or Sports Champions of the PlayStation VR HMD. The fact that the videogame had completed development was today revealed by a tweet from Sony London Studio’s official Twitter account, confirming that ‘master’ status had been achieved.

In the US, a PlayStation VR bundle package is available which includes PlayStation VR Worlds, PlayStation Camera and PlayStation Move controllers alongside the HMD itself. No such bundle has yet been announced for Europe, resulting in PlayStation VR Worlds being a standalone purchase only. The retail price of PlayStation VR Worlds was recently revealed in an update to the PlayStation Store.

The PlayStation VR HMD is set to launch on 13th October 2016. VRFocus has prepared a PlayStation VR launch guide and a guide to the best PlayStation VR accessories to ensure that you’re ready for that fast-approaching launch.

‘Headmaster’ & Why the Physics of Stuff Flying at Your Face is so Compelling in VR

ben-throopWhen Ben Throop went to the Boston VR hackathon in June 2014, he didn’t know that Valve was going to be showing off some prototype VR hardware that had positional tracking. At this point the Oculus DK2 had not shipped yet, and so he was able to build a VR game using his soccer experience to head soccer balls into a goal. He wanted to see how it felt, and was surprised that it was actually a lot of fun. He decided to continue working on it, and last year the game, Headmaster, was first announced at E3 as a PlayStation VR launch title. Frame Interactive was back again this year at E3 showing off the game at PlayStation VR’s booth.

LISTEN TO THE VOICES OF VR PODCAST

I had a chance to catch up with Ben at Sony’s GDC press event where I talked to him about the game design principles behind Headmaster, why even non-gamers love to play it, and why the physics of things flying at your face are some compelling in VR.

Here’s the trailer for Headmaster:
