VR Game Releases For October 2018

VR Game Releases For October 2018

Every month we aim to round up each and every VR game release for you in one single place — this is September’s list. Don’t worry — we’ll continue highlighting the best ones at the end of each week too.

With the door closed on September, we’ve just been through another great month of VR content. Between Creed, Blind, Transference, and Windlands 2 there were lots of titles to look forward to last month. Now with October upon us, it’s time to take a look at what’s coming down the line next.

And if you’re a VR game developer planning to release a game soon — let us know! You can get in touch with me directly by emailing david@uploadvr.com or hit all of the editorial team by emailing tips@uploadvr.com. Livestream: New VR Releases For The Week Of 08/05/18

Today we are starting a new series here at UploadVR: every Friday we’re going to livestream an assortment of new VR releases from that week! This means that every single Friday you can tune in over on the UploadVR Facebook page to catch an hour (or more) of freshly picked new VR content pulled directly from Steam, Oculus Home, and PSN.

On a related note, make sure you check out our highlighted release lists of the biggest new launches on both PC VR (Rift, Vive, and Windows VR) and PSVR.

Since this is our first edition, we’re throwing in an extra game this week from a couple of weeks ago that we’ve been wanting to showcase and never had the time for. Specifically, we plan on showing off the new VR support for the PC version of Megaton Rainfall, a quirky VR art app called Museum of Symmetry, a simple archery shooter called Dungeon Rush, Electronauts from Survios, and a handful of other titles.

We’ll be livestreaming this week’s newest VR releases on HTC Vive today and monitoring chat using OVRdrop while in VR. The stream will be starting soon at approximately 3:30 PM PT and we’ll aim to last for about an hour or so. We’ll be livestreaming directly to the UploadVR Facebook page. You can see the full stream embedded right here down below once it’s up:

The Biggest Rift, Vive and Windows VR Releases of the Week 08/22/18

The Biggest Rift, Vive and Windows VR Releases of the Week 08/22/18

It’s time to suit up and take the fight to the enemy. That’s right, Marvel: Powers United VR is finally available to buy on Oculus Rift this week. Other than that it’s not a huge week for PC VR, but there’s definitely some interesting stuff to check out.

Marvel: Powers United VR, from Sanzaru Games
Price: $39.99 (Rift)

The long-awaited Marvel VR game finally arrives. Step into the suits of your favorite heroes and take on hordes of baddies in this wave-based action game. Though it certainly has its charms, we found Powers United VR to be a little underwhelming.

Read our full review and detailed character guide.

Soviet Lunapark VR, from Mundfish
Price: $18.99 (Rift, Vive)

This strange VR wave shooter from Atomic Heart developer Mundfish finally comes out of Early Access this week. Explore an abandoned Soviet theme park with friends and fight off the hordes of crazy mechanical creations that still dwell within. Lunapark has striking visuals and loads of charm, and might just be worth your time.

Arrowborn, from Kung Fu Robots
Price: $14.99 (Rift, Vive)

Yep, more archery in Early Access. But Arrowborn does at least have its own spin on the genre, pitting players against each other in competitive shooting ranges that make you go for the high score. You can customize loadouts and more, too. Definitely worth a look for archery fans. We’ll have more thoughts on it via an in-depth hands-on and some gameplay footage soon.

The Biggest PSVR Releases Of The Week 06/17/18

The Biggest PSVR Releases Of The Week 06/17/18

We haven’t been doing release lists for the past few weeks because E3-prep and then E3 itself, but now that things are settling back down here we go! We’ve got two spooky scary experiences and one tundra-themed adventure to pick from.

UploadVR also launched the ‘UploadVR PSVR Community’ on PlayStation 4! Join up, find other gamers to play with, and engage in discussions with them. Also, don’t forget to check out our list of the 9 Best PlayStation VR Games if you need any extra inspiration.

Kona VR, from

Price: $5.99 (Requires Full Game, $14.99)

Drivable vehicles, a huge explorable environment, and some gnarly survival mechanics all punctuate this thoughtful, immersive, adventure game. The VR support has been a long time in the making, so this is good news indeed.

The Exorcist: Legion VR, from LegionVR

Price: $6.99 for 1st Episode (Then $24.99 Season Pass)

To this day, A Chair in a Room: Greenwater is one of the most terrifying VR horror experiences I’ve ever had. It’s excellent. The creators of that game are back with The Exorcist: Legion VR. This is an episodic series in which you buy the first episode separately and then you can get a season pass for all current and future episodes.

We want to get a review of this up sooner rather than later so check back next week.

Rooms: The Unsolvable Puzzle, from Prismplus Co.

Price: $13.99

This unique little game is a mixture of diorama-style presentation and escape-room puzzle gameplay. With over 140 stages there is definitely plenty of content. The PSVR support is optional, so you can play the game without if you’d like as well.

The Biggest Rift, Vive, And Windows VR Releases Of The Week 06/17/18

The Biggest Rift, Vive, And Windows VR Releases Of The Week 06/17/18

We haven’t been doing release lists for the past few weeks because E3-prep and then E3 itself, but now that things are settling back down here we go! The big one for Rift users this week is the free Open Beta weekend for Echo Combat, plus an Early Access VR title that most know about at this point is finally getting a full 1.0 launch.

And don’t forget that UploadVR has a Steam community group, complete with a curated list of recommendations so that you don’t have to waste any money finding out what’s good in the world of VR. We also have a top list of the absolute best Oculus Rift and HTC Vive games at the corresponding links.

Echo Combat, from Ready at Dawn

Price: Free (Open Beta Weekend, Rift)

This isn’t a full release, or even an actual release technically at all, because it’s just an Open Beta weekend. But if you’ve got a Rift you owe it to yourself to hop into Echo VR and try out the Echo Combat game mode. It’s basically Overwatch in VR and zero-G and it’s so much fun.

For more, read our hands-on impressions and watch both of our past livestreams from this week.

QuiVr, from Blueteak

Price: $19.99 (Currently Discounted for Rift, Vive, and Windows VR)

QuiVr is one of the original VR wave shooters. When it first hit Early Access developers were just figuring out how to make VR games and they were quick to nail the look and feel of shooting a bow and arrow. Now there’s a full game built around that mechanic with single player, multiplayer, co-op, and lots of stuff to do.

Early Access impressions here, we’ll have a livestream and full review next week.

Sniper Rust VR, from Zatun Game Studio

Price: $9.99 (Rift)

Shooting guns in VR is just so, so satisfying. Shooting at enemies that are far away is even more fun, sometimes. So, this is a whole game about that. The presentation is high-quality and the mechanics feel good. If you love sniping, then check this one out for some single player action.

Budget Cuts, from Neat Corporation (Last Week Release)

Price: $29.99 (Rift, Vive)

This was one of the most anticipated releases for VR headsets for quite a while, following an early demo that came out alongside the Vive over two years ago. It’s a stealth exploration game in which you must explore an office space full of deadly robots.

Kona VR, from

Price: $5.99 (Requires Full Game, $14.99, Currently Discounted)

Drivable vehicles, a huge explorable environment, and some gnarly survival mechanics all punctuate this thoughtful, immersive, adventure game. The VR support has been a long time in the making, so this is good news indeed.

The Biggest Rift, Vive, And Windows VR Releases Of The Week 05/20/18

The Biggest Rift, Vive, And Windows VR Releases Of The Week 05/20/18

This week’s looking pretty good if you’re a VR gamer on PC VR headsets like the Rift, Vive, and Windows VR. From the epic multiplayer mode that just launched for Archangel, dubbed Hellfire, to the new DLC expansion for Arizona Sunshine, and even a VR update for one of Steam’s most popular hardcore survival games, there is a lot going on in the VR scene right now.

If you missed last week’s releases they’re here. And don’t forget that UploadVR has a Steam community group, complete with a curated list of recommendations so that you don’t have to waste any money finding out what’s good in the world of VR. We also have a top list of the absolute best Oculus Rift and HTC Vive games at the corresponding links.

The Forest VR Beta, from

Price: $19.99 (Free VR support for Rift and Vive)

To be clear, this is still a beta update for The Forest VR. It’s very buggy, janky, and doesn’t really feel right yet, but it’s something. In this game you’re stranded in a creepy, dark forest after a plane crash and must scavenge to survive.

Red Matter, from Vertical Robot

Price: $34.99 (Rift)

Red Matter is an atmospheric story-driven VR puzzle adventure that’s set during a dystopian sci-fi version of the Cold War. You’ll play as Agent Epsilon, an astronaut, on a mission to one of Saturn’s moons to research a shady project. This is absolutely one worth checking out.

Archangel: Hellfire, from Skydance Interactive

Price: $19.99 (Currently Discounted, Rift and Vive)

Here we go boys and girls, this is the long-awaited free-movement multiplayer update for Archangel that we’ve been waiting for. Archangel: Hellfire is a free update for anyone that owns Archangel and features 2v2 deathmatches with three different classes of mech. You can watch an hour-long livestream above for a better look.

You can read our hands-on impressions here.

Arizona Sunshine: Dead Man DLC, from Vertigo Games

Price: $2.49 (Full Game required, Rift, Vive, and Windows VR)

Arizona Sunshine originally released about a year and a half ago and it’s gotten several horde mode updates with new maps over that time, but never an expansion of the single player story, until now. The new Dead Man DLC takes you back before the events of the main game and tells a brief (and affordably priced) prequel story.

You can read our hands-on preview of the DLC from GDC right here.

The Biggest Rift, Vive, And Windows VR Releases Of The Week 05/13/18

The Biggest Rift, Vive, And Windows VR Releases Of The Week 05/13/18

Whether you want to immerse yourself in one of the most topical TV shows out right now from HBO, rack up headshots with your bow and arrow skills, or venture into the neon-soaked nostalgia trip of a 90s era shooter, there’s something for just about everyone this week.

Compound, from Bevan McKechnie

Price: $19.99 (Rift, Vive, Windows VR)

What if you could teleport yourself inside the monitor screen of a 90s era FPS in the vein of Wolfenstein and classic DOOM? That’s exactly what Compound does, complete with pixelated graphics and everything. But don’t let the simplistic art style fool you: this is actually one of VR’s smartest shooters to date.

Silicon Valley: Inside the Hacker Hostel, from HBO

Price: Free (Rift and Vive)

If I could use VR to venture into the world of some of my favorite TV shows, I’d be a very happy man. Luckily, Silicon Valley is one of those shows for me and this VR experience lets you visit the iconic hacker hostel that’s prominently featured in Seasons 1-4 of the hit HBO dramedy and features hundreds of things to interact with.

More info here.

Fadeholm, from Enoch and Horbin

Price: $19.99 (Vive)

If the successes of Vanishing Realms and Skyrim VR have taught me anything, it’s that VR needs more fantasy-themed dungeon crawling experiences. Luckily, Fadeholm is a brand new entry in the budding genre. All of the dungeons are procedurally generated so you won’t see the same layout twice and you need to manage resources like your hunger, health, and endurance to survive. We’re eager to see how this one evolves through Early Access.

Sacralith: The Archer’s Tale, from Odd Meter

Price: $19.99 (Currently Discounted, Vive and Rift)

Shooting a bow and arrow is still one of my favorite things to do in VR, so when a game comes along that focuses on that specifically, while wrapping it up with a strong narrative and dense world to explore, you’ve got my attention. This one is aiming to be more than just a wave shooter.

The Biggest PSVR Releases Of The Week 04/08/18

The Biggest PSVR Releases Of The Week 04/08/18

Still playing WipEout VR? Yeah, good call, but if you don’t have a Rift or Vive then there’s one big release you probably have been missing out on until now that could pull you away and it features a mad scientist + his grandson going on crazy adventures.

If you missed last week’s releases, you can see those here. UploadVR also launched the ‘UploadVR PSVR Community’ on PlayStation 4! Join up, find other gamers to play with, and engage in discussions with them. Also, don’t forget to check out our list of the 9 Best PlayStation VR Games if you need any extra inspiration.

Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality, from Owlchemy Labs

Price: $29.99

The creators of Job Simulator expanded on that game’s core premise to deliver a hilarious adventure across multiple dimensions in this Rick and Morty VR extravaganza. Not to mention a spoof of Roy: A Life Well-Lived that’s sure to earn its fair share of replays. Definitely recommended for fans of Job Simulator or fans of the cartoon.

Operation Warcade, from Ivanovich Games

Price: $19.99

Operation Warcade is like an arcade cabinet wave shooter transported into VR. The mechanics are fine, it plays well, and it captures the right tone, but it’s just not that inventive or fun to play in the grand scheme of things. Maybe worth it on a steep sale.

Time Carnage, from Wales Interactive

Price: $19.99

Time Carnage is another uninspired wave shooter that does nothing to move the genre forward or offer up a creative spin on existing tropes. You point, you shoot, you rinse, and you repeat. We’d recommend passing on this one.
