“Our goal is to create a whole new category of education & health care music, learning, & therapy  applications and content that take advantage of Virtual Reality and Beamz technology to bring a new learning and therapy approach to a wide range of schools, after school and camp programs, therapy centers, various special needs programs, and much more. “Jam Studio VR is a highly motivating, engaging activity for our students, especially those that have fine and gross motor challenges, spatial awareness challenges, significant sensory challenges, and impulsivity challenges,” comments Matt Drowne, Head of Gateway Academy. This VR App and the process of having them wait in line brings their vestibular and other senses into play in order to engage and has been outstanding. It’s a highly discreet way to address all of those deficits for them in a way that they’re working harder than they probably would just to have the opportunity to do that.”

Additionally, Beamz Interactive has partnered with ByteseedVR to bring VR into the classroom by providing several solutions including a portable VR cart with an HTC Vive system as well as professional training. Jam Studio VR Education & Health Care Enterprise Edition will cost $199 USD, while the VR system solutions, including the App, will range from $2,600 to $3,800. Jam Studio VR Gets Into The Groove With New Content And Compatibility

It was back in September last year that we first brought you news of Jam Studio VR from Vive Studios and Beamz Interactive. A virtual reality (VR) musical experience that utilised the HTC Vive in order to help teach both would-be musicians (and people who just want to make a lot of noise) in the way of playing a musical instrument, unleashing their inner musician and being able to create great music or play like a DJ.

At the time, it launched with a library of twenty songs from likes of Flo Rida, Miley Cyrus and The Jonas Brothers and they even brought in Megadeth bassist David Ellefson to try it out. Other song content bundles could then be added via in app-purchases can be added through in-app purchases, and users could then use these to compose, record and share their own unique mixes.

Future titles from Vive Studios are not currently known, however the rate at which the publisher is distributing content has been increasing on recent months.

The Music Is Within You, Jam Studio VR Wants To Bring It Out

There’s something wonderful about the ability to make music. Like so many, at least in the UK, the only real dalliance I personally had with learning to play music was to have a cheap plastic recorder forcibly shoved into my mouth at Primary School when I was about six or seven. Unfortunately, there’s only so many times you can botch playing Three Blind Mice and mangle Frère Jacques at that age before your enthusiasm for the whole thing somewhat wanes.

There is though no age barrier to begin learning anything new, and earlier in the week VRFocus brought you news of just one way you could learn how to play a musical instrument (or at least enjoy putting music together) courtesy of a new product direct from Beamz Interactive and Vive Studios – Jam Studio VR.

Supporting, naturally, the HTC Vive, Jam Studio VR is an interactive music app which allows anyone at any level of ability find out just what is needed to make music – even perform a set as a DJ. Composition, playing, learning, it’s all wrapped up in the app which contains a library of 20 plus tracks to try out. Out on Steam, the app is also available via Viveport which recently uploaded a launch trailer to its that you can see below.

Beyond that however, the developers also wanted to showcase how it operates, so as part of an “in action” video they turned to Megadeth bassist David Ellefson to talk about how you could be creating your own symphony of destruction via virtual reality (VR).  You can see that too below.

VRFocus will be bringing you more release news from Vive and Viveport throughout the coming week.

Weekend Deal and New titles For Viveport

HTC Vive users have an opportunity to grab a Weekend Deal for horror title Grave VR, just in time for some spooky Halloween videogaming. Alternatively, several new titles are now available on the platform if horror is not your thing.

Grave VR is a survival horror title where light is your only weapon. Set in a barren desert, during the day players are relatively safe; able to explore their surroundings to find useful things, especially objects such as torches or flares. Once darkness falls, the dead come out to play, and light is your only means of survival – though not all enemies are weak to it. Grave VR is currently available on Viveport with a 50% discount, reducing the price from £13.93 (GBP) to £6.97.

New titles that have recently been added to Viveport include Masterpiece VR, a virtual reality (VR) sandbox tool for 3D modelling that lets users create a share 3D works of art within a VR environment. YOU by Sharecare is also new to the platform, a medical and healthcare app. Cat Sorter VR, a colourful tongue-in-cheek title where players need to fix up poor cats who have been created with shark fins or lobster claws and turn them back into the adorable fluffy creatures they are meant to be.

Another new title on Viveport is Manifest 99, a story-driven VR experience set aboard a train, featuring several mysterious characters whose backgrounds and motivations the player must unravel. For those who feel like something a bit more musical, there is Jam Studio VR, a musical VR experience that is designed to let anyone find out how it feels to create and compose music.

Further information can be found on the Viveport website.

VRFocus will continue to report on new discounts and deals for VR hardware and software.

No Experience Needed With Jam Studio VR

It is an ambition of many people to learn how to play a musical instrument, though for most the opportunity is out of reach for a variety of reasons. Making music has just become a little easier with the launch of Jam Studio VR from Vive Studios.

Jam Studio VR is an interactive music performance app which lets anyone regardless of musical talent or experience discover what it is like to make music or perform a DJ set. Using the HTC Vive motion controls, users can compose and play musical scores, playing various kinds of virtual instruments, or make like a DJ and construct beats and loops.

The library contains over 20 interactive songs featuring well-known artists such as Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers, Flo Rida, guitarist Craig Chaquico and Megadeth bassist David Ellefson. Other sings can be added through in-app purchases, such as music from Disney, or various other artist and content bundles. Once users have composed their own mix, they can record and share their creations with friends.

“Our goal is to create a whole new category of interactive music and gaming applications that takes advantage of Virtual Reality technology. Jam Studio VR delivers just that!” said Charlie Mollo, Beamz Interactive’s CEO. “Using our advanced triggering and synchronization technology and IP position, we’re able to create a truly unique interactive music experience that makes it easy and exciting to engage people of all ages and skill levels.”

Jam Studio VR is at the forefront of creating a new category of interactive music and music gaming apps for VR. We are very excited to partner with Beamz and develop this leading edge interactive music performance application for Vive”, said Joel Breton, VP of Vive Studios. “This family friendly app will lead the way for how users create and experience music in VR.”

Jam Studio VR is available for HTC Vive on Steam for £14.99 (GBP).

VRFocus will bring you further information on Jam Studio VR as it becomes available.
