Horror of the Deep Introduces VR DLC

Horror-themed dungeon crawler Horror of the Deep is brining the title into virtual reality (VR) with the launch of DLC that introduces a VR mode for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.

The base gameplay for Horror of the Deep involved delving into the depths of a mysterious forgotten dungeon to discover the secrets that have been left behind. The deeper you descend, the worse the monsters and traps will become. Players need to find items and clues to discover how to proceed. Items and powers can be discovered and unlocked to help the player fight back against monsters or progress through traps, and some of these abilities will even persist after death.

The new VR DLC requires the base title to be installed in order to work, but offers the experience of Horror of the Deep in VR for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift using SteamVR. The controls are handled using a gamepad such as an Xbox controller, or using mouse and keyboard. There is as of yet no implementation for tracked motion controllers.

The development team at Drunken Apes are planning to gradually introduce new features to the VR version of the title, but there is currently no word on what features are planned.

Horror of the Deep is an Early Access title available on Steam for £5.59 (GBP). The development team are seeking feedback from the community on both the base title and the VR DLC, which can be submitted through the Steam forums. The VR DLC is available for free. Further information and updates can be found on the Steam store page.
