Tabletop action RPG Demeo (2021) is now available on Vision Pro, which prominently features a fully-immersive VR mode so you can crawl the game’s many dungeons alongside other virtual basement dwellers.
Resolution Games has finally released Demeo for Vision Pro, which includes cross-buy between all Apple devices, priced at $40. So while you’ll be able to buy it once and play it on your Mac, iPad or iPhone, you’ll also be able to play against anyone who owns the game across Steam, Quest and PSVR 2.
Check out the trailer below:
For now, the Vision Pro version of the game differs from its main analogue on Quest 3, as it doesn’t include an actual immersive passthrough mode, aka mixed reality.
Instead, it gives the user either a fully-immersive VR mode, or a ‘Windowed’ virtual screen in mixed reality, the latter of which looks a bit like playing the game on a floating iPad.
Here’s a look at some launch day gameplay, courtesy of tech analyst and YouTuber Brad ‘SadlyItsBradley’ Lynch:
While the studio hasn’t said as much, it’s thought that Resolution Games will eventually bring an update to allow for proper mixed reality gameplay, making it similar to their other Vision Pro app Game Room (2024). We’ve reached out to the studio and will update this piece when/if we receive a response.
Whatever the case, this makes Demeo one of the very few bona fide VR games on Vision Pro. While the platform boasts a number of mixed reality titles, including things like What the Golf? and Lego Builder’s Journey, its VR games are few and far between, with standouts including Synth Riders (also mixed reality), Proton Pulse, Just Hoops, and … not much else for now.
This essentially comes down to Apple not prioritizing fully-immersive VR in favor of mixed reality. Substantively, Vision Pro doesn’t support any sort of motion controller, which means a majority of the best VR games in existence would need to be overhauled to entirely rely on hand-tracking, which filters out basically any game that requires quick and precise input to play. Even so, Vision Pro still costs $3,500, making it less broad of a platform to target when it comes to porting content directly from competing hardware, or creating stuff from the ground-up.
Resolution Games revealed its popular tabletop dungeon-crawling RPG Demeo now features hand-tracking support on Quest 2 and Quest Pro with its latest mixed reality update. It also includes a few new features to its previously released MR mode that are aiming to appeal to both future owners of Meta Quest 3 and Apple Vision Pro.
Ahead of Demeo’s confirmed launch-day release on Quest 3 sometime this Fall, Resolution Games announced it’s now pushing out the game’s Mixed Reality 2.0 update, which is available starting today on the Quest 2 and Quest Pro.
Added to Demeo last Fall, the game’s mixed reality mode lets players take the gameboard out of the virtual world and into their living rooms. Now, in the game’s Mixed Reality 2.0 update, players can put down their controllers and use their hands to pick up miniatures, play cards, and roll the die.
The update also adds two new MR features: co-location to optimize local mixed reality multiplayer, and decorations (including candles and posters) that can be placed to set the mood.
Notably, the studio says the original Quest won’t be receiving the Mixed Reality 2.0 update, but instead is getting a separate final update, bringing ongoing support for the game on Quest 1 to a close. Cross-play support for Quest 1 has also been discontinued.
Demeo Battles, the game’s upcoming PvP mode, is set to feature a similar MR mode on Quest 2, Quest 3, and Quest Pro when it launches later this year, Resolution Games says.
At the moment, Resolution Games says it’s currently focusing half the studio’s workload on the creation of MR projects. The studio tells Road to VR it has “multiple mixed reality titles actively in development across a number of devices for 2024 and beyond, including several with dedicated controller-free play.”
Additionally, the studio confirmed Demeo is in active development for Apple Vision Pro for “fully virtual as well as mixed reality gameplay,” with a flatscreen version planned for release on Mac.
Demeo now supports cross-platform multiplayer on Pico, which joins today’s PS5 and PSVR 2 release, Resolution Games confirmed.
First released in 2021, Resolution’s popular tabletop dungeon crawler continues launching on new platforms and, last year, Demeo joined the list of Pico Neo Link 3 games. However, unlike the PC VR and Quest editions, the Pico version didn’t initially support crossplay, leaving players restricted to that specific ecosystem. That’s no longer the case, and Pico players can now play online co-op with other platforms, including PS5 and PSVR 2.
That’s not the only Demeo update, either. On Steam and Meta Quest headsets, 38 achievements were added to match its PlayStation trophies, and Resolution confirmed to UploadVR that achievements are also planned for Epic Games Store edition. New visual enhancements give an improved look for the basement, while 3D models for several monsters have been refreshed.
It’s a busy time for Demeo and last December saw the launch of its fifth campaign, Reign Of Madness. Available as a free update for all existing owners, this promised an end to the Mad Elven King Saga and introduced a new playable character, Uhrak the Barbarian. At the same time, Resolution also released a first look at the upcoming PvP mode, Demeo Battles, and we went hands-on with a preview build.
Demeo is available now for $39.99 on Meta Quest, PC VR, Pico and PSVR 2, alongside a flatscreen release for PC and PS5.
Sony has revealed the price and launch date for PSVR 2 in addition to its launch day lineup for PSVR 2. There’s a ton of stuff coming down the pipeline though as we approach the February 22nd launch of PSVR 2, so check out our mega roundup of everything confirmed both by Sony and indie developers looking to target PSVR 2.
There is a ton of overlap with the list of launch day titles announced by Sony. We overhauled this article to include those in addition to games that have been confirmed to arrive at some point on the headset.
We have what seems to be a fairly complete list of PSVR 2 games. Below, you’ll see our top picks along with their trailers and descriptions. The remaining list is available at the bottom of the article.
Top PSVR 2 Highlights
Gran Turismo 7 – [Launch Day]
Gran Turismo 7 will support PSVR 2 at the headset’s launch via a free upgrade for existing owners. The VR implementation looks like a big upgrade over what we saw in GT Sport. Not much else to say ‘sides vroom vroom.
Moss & Moss: Book II – [Launch Day]
Polyarc announced that both Moss and the sequel Moss: Book II are set to be launch titles on PSVR 2 when it releases in February next year, which follows the adventures of a pint-sized hero named Quill who journeys through a world fraught with enemies and plenty of puzzles to boot.
Both are said to include more visual detail such as lighting and texture improvements. Making use of PSVR 2’s hardware, players can expect eye-tracking to highlight key items, a two-controller setup, improved haptics, and adaptive triggers for added immersion when picking up items.
Horizon Call of the Mountain – [Launch Day]
Horizon Call of the Mountain isn’t a log flume ride or hollow VR “experience” like the trailer might suggest. Nay, developed by Sony’s first-party Guerrilla Games and Firesprite Studios, the first VR take on the Horizon universe is going to be an honest to goodness story campaign the devs say will take around seven hours to complete, along with some “additional content” included in the game.
Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge – [Launch Day]
Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge is an action-adventure experience where you’ll take on the role of a droid repair technician operating near the Outer Rim. First introduced on Meta Quest in 2020, this will be the first time this run-and-gun, Star Wars-flavored adventure will be available outside of the Meta ecosystem.
Capcom is bringing Resident Evil Village to PSVR 2, and it says the game will provide “an even deeper immersive experience by taking full advantage of the vivid graphics possible with the headset’s 4K HDR display, PlayStation VR2’s eye tracking, PS5’s 3D Audio and more.” Lady Dimitrescu awaits in this free DLC update to the base game!
Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil 4 is already available on Quest 2, although this particular version is a classic zombie shooter of another stripe. The game coming to PSVR 2 is actually the remake, so we’re getting all new everything this time around and not just uprezzed textures. We’re hoping the VR support is as good as the Quest 2 version, and decidedly better than RE7 Biohazard, which wasn’t bad, but it is showing its age since it was released in 2017.
Demeo – [Launch Day]
Created by VR veteran Resolution Games, Demeo is a VR take on a tabletop RPG dungeon crawler. It has fared remarkably well on Quest 2 and PC VR headsets since release in 2021, which is in part thanks to its basement-themed, D&D-style action that lets you unite with friends for a tactical gaming night from afar.
Paddle through the ice caves in Antarctica, kayak with dolphins in Costa Rica, conquer a thunderstorm in Norway and discover the canyons of Australia. In Kayak VR: Mirage, made exclusively for VR, you can explore these real-world locations with photorealistic graphics.
No Man’s Sky – [Before End of March]
The redemption story continues, as Hello Games vows to bring its space exploration simulator to PSVR 2, including all of the successive patches and DLC drops that took it from procedurally generated empty shell to a universe truly brimming with possibilities.
The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners Chapter 2 – [Before end of March]
This is a full-fat sequel to VR’s most popular games as of late, The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners. Like the first in the series, you’ll scrounge around a post-apocalyptic New Orleans that’s not only brimming with the undead, but also rival gangs that you can choose to join or battle. Physics-based combat, low ammo supplies, and a very touchy stamina system means you’ll need to think long and hard before running into that crowd of walkers.
Firewall Ultra
It’s not clear how much “new” content we’re getting right out of the bat with First Contact’s next Firewall game, which like the original promises tactical squad-based shooting action across a host of maps, although Firewall Ultra is decidedly the future of the franchise. We can expect to see legacy maps, characters and weapons, but also updates for more of everything down the line.
Walkabout Mini Golf
Indie VR studio Mighty Coconut announced its smash success VR mini-golfing game Walkabout Mini Golf is making its way to PSVR 2. Arguably one of VR’s most favorite social gaming experiences, Walkabout Mini Golf is said to arrive on PSVR 2 “soon”, which is set to include cross-play with all supported versions of the game; this includes versions available through Steam, Meta Quest Store, Viveport, and Pico’s European-facing digital store.
The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR – [Before End of March]
Supermassive Games revealed The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR, or what it calls a “fast-paced roller coaster action-horror-shooter where every move you make, and everything you see, could mean the difference between life and death.” Set inside the sinister world of The Dark Pictures Anthology, Switchback VR makes good use of headset eye-tracking: some enemies only move when you blink (Visine not included).
Crossfire: Sierra Squad
Smilegate tossed out a trailer to a brand-new VR game called Crossfire: Sierra Squad, a first-person shooter in the Crossfire universe. The game is played either solo or in co-op mode with up to 4 players on a team as you battle against AI baddies. The studio says there are 39 types of weapons including pistols, rifles, throwable – and throw back-able – grenades and sniper rifles with revolutionary scope mechanics give you plenty of options to dispatch 17 types of enemies.
The Light Brigade – [Launch Day]
Funktronic Labs showed off a new single-player roguelike game called The Light Brigade which it says is “filled with immersive gunplay and moody mystery.” Uncover the mystery of the gloomy ‘Sunken World’ as you climb the ranks of the titular Light Brigade, unlock firearms and unique spells. The Light Brigade will be available for pre-order starting November 15th.
C-Smash VRS
Sega’s futuristic block-breaker, which you might remember from its launch on Dreamcast in 2001 or in arcades throughout Europe and Japan, is being reimagined for PSVR 2 with C-Smash VRS. It’s set to bring an immersive twist to Cosmic Smash’s low gravity squash-meets-blockbreaker gameplay, including single player, co-op, and 1v1 multiplayer modes—that’s what the ‘VRS’ stands for, both virtual reality and versus. Demo out March 23rd. Launch later this year.
Behemoth
Sink into an all new world of danger, survival, and mystery from Skydance Interactive, the creators behind The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners. In Behemoth, take on the role of a diseased wanderer lost in the frigid Forsaken Lands. Overcome dangerous environments, deadly warriors, and towering Behemoths using immersive, weighty VR combat and life-like physics. Travel through strange, otherworldly environments and overcome all, no matter how large, that stands in your way. Late 2023.
Hello Neighbor: Search and Rescue [Launch Day]
tinyBuild Games and Steel Wool Studios (Five Nights at Freddy’s) announced a VR take on viral indie hit Hello Neighbor, which is coming to both PSVR and PSVR 2 with cross-buy. “Mr. Peterson’s creepy house takes on a new level of immersion in VR, and there is nothing quite as scary as actually seeing that familiar shadow tower over you just before everything goes black,” tinyBuild says.
Pistol Whip VR – [Launch Day]
Cloudhead Games is bringing a free PSVR 2 upgrade to the PSVR version of its award-winning physical action-rhythm game where thrilling gunplay and dynamic tracks collide, creating a dreamscape world for players to blast, duck, and dodge their way through to become the ultimate action hero.
Cities VR – Enhanced Edition – [Launch Day]
With its intial launch on Quest earlier this year, Fast Travel Games managed to bring Cities: Skylines to VR, albeit in a slightly smaller package to run on VR hardware. Smaller, as in the size of your city: you’re actually a Godzilla-sized goliath towering over your little town as you manage all of its buildings and keep up with city planning.
Cosmonious High – [Launch Day]
Owlchemy Labs is known for highly interactive, super approachable VR games, such as award-winning titles Job Simulator and its sequel Vacation Simulator. This one went live a few months ago on Quest and PC VR headsets, and we can’t wait to see PSVR 2’s eye-tracking bring our avatars to life.
Zenith: The Last City – [Launch Day]
From Ramen VR comes the PSVR 2 version of its Kickstarter success story, the MMORPG know as Zenith: The Last City. Promised to be a day-one launch title, there are hundreds of hours of content to chew through in this well-realized VR native.
After The Fall – [Launch Day]
Launched on PC VR, Quest and the original PSVR, Vertigo Games is bringing an enhanced version of the co-op zombie shooter to PSVR 2. If you haven’t heard of it before, it’s essentially Left4Dead, but in VR, letting you sweep through levels with friends and strangers as you mow down massive hordes of zombioid baddies. Upgrade your stuff, come back for more.
Jurassic World Aftermath Collection – [Launch Day]
Coatsink originally brought this two-part psychological dino-thriller to Quest, making for a heart-pounding game of cat-and-mouse with a gaggle of Raptor baddies. Use your eyes and ears to alert you to impending doom, and hide from certain death if you can, Make sure to check out our spoiler-free review of both part 1 and 2 on Quest to see what’s in store.
Altair Breaker – [Launch Day]
Initially released on Steam and PSVR, Altair Breker is a map-based sword fighting game from the makers of Swords of Gargantua, Thirdverse. You can team up with three other friends or go it alone as you for an adventure that the studio says its for “players who want to experience stylish sword-fighting action and feel like the hero in an anime world.”
The Last Clockwinder – [Launch Day]
The Last Clockwinder is a puzzle automation game about making synchronized machines out of your own clones. Your mission is to repair the Clocktower: an ancient haven for the galaxy’s plants and seeds that’s fallen into disrepair. It won our PC VR Game of the Year 2022, so it definitively will find a good home on the very capable PSVR 2.
Fantasvision 202X – [Launch Day]
Originally released on the PlayStation 2 in 2000, Fantavision is a puzzle game based on the theme of fireworks. The game returns in an all-new title for PS VR2 powered by the Unreal Engine. The game is an artistic combination of action, shooting, strategy, and puzzles. The PSVR 2 headset and PSVR 2 Sense controller provides an immersive experience for you to fill the star-studded sky with sparkling fireworks.

We’ll be updating this list continuously, so check back soon!

Resolution Games, the VR developers and publisher behind Demeo, Blaston and the upcoming sports game Ultimechs, today revealed that 2021 has been a record-breaking year for the company in both revenue and game downloads. The studio also announced the acquisition of Stockholm-based indie Zenz VR, which is known for VR zombie shooter HordeZ.
Resolution Games says 2021 was its fifth consecutive year of profitability, something the company says has allowed it to reinvest into growth in development capabilities and personnel. Now the company says it employs 158 workers, with that number projected to surpass 200 by the end of the year.
Over the course of 2021, Resolution Games says it’s quadrupled growth in game revenues and tripled total game downloads across all platforms compared to 2020.
The studio has also recently expanded to the US with its Austin, Texas-based subsidiary, Resolution Games Inc., which is headed by president and co-founder, Paul Brady.
In a press statement, the studio says its acquisition of Zenz VR is “talent-focused,” as it doesn’t include Zenz VR’s existing and in-development IP.
The studio says the addition of “select members” of Zenz’s team have been absorbed into the company’s AR division. This includes Zenz founder Niklas Persson, who has a background as producer and designer on Battlefield 1942.
Resolution Games is a pioneer in the VR space, having led with titles such as Bait! (2016) and Wonderglade (2017) on Gear VR. More recently the company has focused on multiplayer games, with Blaston (2020) and Demeo (2021) being the most successful of the bunch. The company’s upcoming sports game, Ultimechs, is set to continue the studio’s focus on multiplayer games. The futuristic Rocket League-style game serves up 2v2 multiplayer matches that require you to rocket-punch a ball into your opposition’s goal.
As Resolution Games continue to release new adventures for tabletop experience Demeo, the videogame goes from strength to strength. Today sees the latest instalment arrive in the form of Curse of the Serpent Lord, adding not only a new environment but also new enemies and gameplay mechanics.
In Curse of the Serpent Lord players are able to venture into a new Demeo region, Ronth, a desert land under the gaze of a scorching sun. All adventures need a bit of backstory and this new addition is no different. “In the desolate wastelands of Ronth Desert, the village of Izteria was built to be a shielded sanctuary to protect the followers of Iztir so they could worship in peace and solitude. But with the arrival of their serpent god, that peace broke — turning the townsfolk into monsters clad in the skin of reptiles,” the synopsis explains.
As you may already suspect, with its sandy domain Curse of the Serpent Lord is filled with scorpions, scarabs and more unusually shockwave-summoning Brutes. Oh, and snakes, big, red-eyed monstrous reptiles that cause havoc. In addition to those beasts are corruption tiles. This new environmental hazard can poison the minds of players and cause them to turn on their teammates.
There are new perks to make the challenge a little easier. First up are the merchants who can be found in-game to trade rare items with for valuable cards. Then there’s the new potion stand where you can pick up random potions for everyone in your party, with some new concoctions added in the update.
Key to it all are the characters you choose and now there’s another, the Warlock Oana. Always accompanied by her Astacat, Cána, she’s a mighty warrior who can cast portals, fire magic missiles, and deploy magical barriers. Resolution Games has also taken player feedback on board regarding the Sorcerer. Zedokar’s new skill Overcharge fills him with electrical energy to stun any attacker whilst his Zap power is now a powerful Lightning Bolt.
“Our players may have started their journeys in the depth of the Elven Necropolis, but they’ve long since ventured beyond its crypt walls,” said Tommy Palm, founder and CEO of Resolution Games. “The world of Demeo is vast and varied, and we’ve revealed just a sliver of it so far. With today’s update players can explore the harsh desert environment for the first time — and there’s plenty more to come.”
Curse of the Serpent Lord is freely available to Demeo owners today. It won’t be the final adventure of 2022 either, with Resolution Games planning the fifth instalment for later in the year. For further updates keep reading gmw3.
Resolution Games today released the fourth module to its hit multiplayer tabletop RPG Demeo (2021), this time pitting your merry band of adventurers against what the studio calls a “cadre of desert-dwelling reptilian nightmares.”
Called ‘The Curse of the Serpent Lord’, the adventure brings new enemy types, gameplay mechanics, and player options as the party expands to the desert region of ‘Ronth’. The module also brings a new Warlock class to the game in addition to rebalancing the Sorcerer class.
Here’s how Resolution Games describes it:
In the desolate wastelands of Ronth Desert, the village of Izteria was built to be a shielded sanctuary to protect the followers of Iztir so they could worship in peace and solitude. But with the arrival of their serpent god, that peace broke — turning the townsfolk into monsters clad in the skin of reptiles! Can your band of adventurers confront the Serpent Lord, uncover the truth, and break the curse?
And here’s a breakdown of what to expect in ‘The Curse of the Serpent Lord’:
New enemies – Face an all-new selection of foes, from turret-constructing followers of Iztir to burrowing Ronth Scorpions, rare Jeweled Scarabs, shockwave-summoning Brutes and more
Corruption – A brand new environmental hazard, corruption tiles can spread across the land poisoning the minds of players and causing them to turn on their allies
Merchants – Found as a point of interest in-game, the merchant will trade rare items you’ve collected for cards that will help you continue the fight against the forces of Iztir
Potions – Visit the new potion stand to secure random potions for everyone in your party, including a variety of formulations debuting for the first time in Curse of the Serpent Lord
Surprises – The sands hold many secrets — will you be the first to uncover them?
Demeo has added a Warlock named Oana to the lineup along, coming alongside a trusty familiar named Cána, something called an ‘Astacat’. Oana can create portals, fire magic missiles, and deploy magical barriers in addition to sending out Cána to fight on their behalf.
The update has also “reconjured” Zedokar the Sorcerer by giving him the ability to overcharge, filling him with “a crackling electrical energy, stunning anyone who dares to attack and turning his Zap power into the much more powerful Lightning Bolt,” the studio says.
And that’s not all. The studio says Demeo will be getting a fifth adventure at some point later this year which takes the group into a town for the first time, a place that houses “powerful new enemies and all new dangers,” Resolution says.
“The world of Demeo is vast and varied, and we’ve revealed just a sliver of it so far. With today’s update players can explore the harsh desert environment for the first time — and there’s plenty more to come,” says Tommy Palm, founder and CEO of Resolution Games.
The Curse of the Serpent Lord update is now available for free on all supported devices, including both flatscreen and VR via Steam and for Meta headsets via the Quest Store and Meta PC Store. It’s also coming soon as a free update for Pico headsets.
An augmented reality (AR) demo for tabletop hit Demeo debuted at the AWE 2022 event last week.
Developer Resolution Games showed the VR and flatscreen title running inside the Lenovo ThinkReality headset, powered by a Motorola phone. You can get a look at some through the lens shots in our wrap up video below from the Between Realities team.
Demeo AR Demo Revealed
As you can see from the footage, the AR experience works by anchoring the gameboard to a surface like a desk. You’re still able to see other characters surrounding the environment beside you. As Resolution Co-Founder and President Paul Brady explained, though, this isn’t the full game running inside AR.
“We’ve only had the consumer dev kit for about three weeks now so we got a little experience together to demo is so people can see the potential of what it might be like to have a tabletop RPG experience in AR,” Brady said.
In fact, Resolution isn’t officially announcing an AR port of Demeo for any headsets at the moment, but this certainly shows the possibilities of where the game could head in the future. We already think the VR game offers a best-in-class social experience.
This demo, meanwhile, came about as part of Resolution’s participation in Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Spaces initiative. Brady hinted that the program could enable Resolution to easily bring its projects to AR. “With their adoption and use of OpenXR and also their agnostic hardware approach it’s something that would make it easy for us to get it one place and make it available for lots of devices,” he said, “so we’re all about doing things in an agnostic approach like that.”
“Demeo’s average play time sessions are like two or three hours, so the ability to be in AR where you can see your environment around you too is an option that I think a lot of players will really appreciate in the future.”
Of course, there’s still plenty of other things in the works for Demeo right now. Stay tuned for the Upload VR Showcase this week at 8am PT on June 9 for a sneak peek at the game’s next hero.
You can now play Demeo with one other friend instead of three.
Resolution Games recently revealed that a Doubles mode was in the works for the turn-based tabletop VR game and it launched across all versions of the game on July 8. The mode allows two players to control two characters each on otherwise normal dungeon runs, essentially filling up the roles of a normal four-player campaign with half the number of players.
Demeo Doubles Mode Now Available
The Demeo doubles mode is now live! Play as 2 heroes each in private game rooms and show the Rat King who’s boss. To play, start a private multiplayer game and ‘two heroes per player’. We’ve also added some fixes and you can find the full list here: https://t.co/FesKLKXycgpic.twitter.com/bqnBeZNKbV
That’s a pretty huge addition for those that don’t have three other friends that own a copy of Demeo, or simply want to organize quickly meeting up with one ally, not three. Even with Demeo now available on flatscreen PCs, it can be hard to find that many friends to form up a party on a whim. Doubles isn’t all that’s in the works for Demeo right now. The Heroes’ Hangout was recently updated which let players paint figurines together and the developers just launched the game’s 4th campaign, Curse of the Serpent Lord, and we even saw an AR version of the game being tested.
Would you be jumping into the two-player Demeo mode? Let us know in the comments below!
This article originally published on June 1 with the announcement of Demeo’s doubles mode and it was updated with release on July 8.
