Download Transpose for Free on Steam This Weekend, Keep it Forever

The past few weeks have seen a deluge of high-quality virtual reality (VR) releases from AAA and indie developers alike, so there should be no issues with VR fans finding something to play. If you’ve not had the cash to splash then you’ll want to grab Transpose this weekend, as developer Secret Location is offering it for free to keep forever.

Transpose

Helping those in self-isolation pass the time, Transpose is a time-bending puzzle experience which originally arrived back in 2018, even making it to VRFocus’ ‘The Best HTC Vive Games Of 2018‘ list. Gameplay involves you having to create multiple, overlapping versions of your digital self, to solve complex and twisted puzzles. You’ll need to rotate the environment, walk on walls and ceilings whilst layering and then recording echoes of yourself over and over again.

There’s plenty to keep most players busy with three worlds and over 35 challenges to complete, offering around eight hours of gameplay. The main challenge is to collect energy from each puzzle which is then given to a mysterious ancient machine which requires powering up.

VRFocus awarded Transpose four-stars in its original review, saying: “Transpose is a feast for the eyes as well as the mind, with enough levels to keep most busy for a good few hours. If there’s a downside then the Echo Bands can be a bit fiddly when trying to delete Echos. Other than that, Transpose is a mesmerising experience that VR players shouldn’t overlook.”

Transpose

Normally retailing for £15.49 GBP on Steam, from Friday, 10th April at 10:00 a.m. PST (6pm BST) until Monday, 13th April at 10:00 a.m. PST Transpose is completely free, compatible with HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Valve Index and Windows Mixed Reality headsets. “We wanted to give something back to the VR community during this difficult time. Hopefully Transpose can be a fun distraction while we all stay home and get through this,” said Michael Sandercock, Lead Game Designer at Secret Location in a statement.

This was Secret Location’s most recent project, having previously released The Great C and Blasters of the UniverseVRFocus will continue its coverage of Secret Location, reporting back with the latest updates and announcements.
