Resolutions Games has become a prolific virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) content producer creating titles such as Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs, Glimt: The Vanishing at the Grand Starlight Hotel, and Acron: Attack of the Squirrels to name a few. Today, the studio has revealed its latest project, another tongue in cheek experience called Cook-Out: A Sandwich Tale.
The title will be another multiplayer experience much like Acron, where players have to communicate and work together in a hectic kitchen environment.
“We’ve clearly seen that as VR’s popularity is increasing it is also becoming more and more of a medium for unique social experiences that can bring people together like never before,” said Tommy Palm, CEO of Resolution Games in a statement. “We feel that Cook-Out: A Sandwich Tale will be a great illustration of how players can have a ton of fun when they work together in VR – especially given the frantic environment of a busy restaurant kitchen.”
At the moment more specific details aren’t available such as how many players Cook-Out: A Sandwich Tale will support, whether it’ll be purely local or include an online feature and what VR headsets the studio plans on supporting. In terms of what the videogame will look like Resolution Games has only released the top logo image. So there are plenty of details to come. One thing VRFocus was told was that it’ll be a 2020 release. With the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2020 event taking place in March further information will likely arrive then.
VR manufacturers and developers have long battled with the assumption from those outside of the industry that VR is antisocial because you put a headset on. There have been several good examples from both videogames and apps as to why VR offers a new kind of social activity. Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes was an early example of local interaction while AltspaceVR offers an online community. In 2020 the likes of Somnium Space 2.0 and the to be released Facebook Horizon both offer visions of the future.
When Resolution Games release further details regarding Cook-Out: A Sandwich Tale, VRFocus will let you know.
