VR LBE Specialist Dark Slope Exits Stealth, Announces First Title Scarygirl Mission Maybee

The location-based entertainment (LBE) space when it comes to virtual reality (VR) is one of the most exciting and dynamic sections of the industry, with major players like The VOID and Zero Latency producing new experiences and pushing the boundaries of the technology. Today, a new player has entered the scene. Hailing from Toronto, Canada, Dark Slope is a specialist LBE VR developer that has now come out of stealth, revealing its first project, Scarygirl Mission Maybee.

Dark Slope

Founded in January 2018, over the past 12 months Dark Slope has managed to complete a $1.5 million seed funding round which has helped it build Scarygirl Mission Maybee, hire new staff, develop the company’s free roam technology and its enterprise product line, and will help to support future VR and AR releases. Additionally, as part of the seed round the company has appointed new investor Steven DeNure, co-founder and former President/COO of DHX Media, to the board of Dark Slope.

“Technological advancements have put location-based VR and AR applications, tools and experiences at the cusp of widespread adoption by consumers and corporations,” said Raja Khanna, Executive Chairman and co-founder of Dark Slope in a statement. “The timing is right, and the team at Dark Slope are the best of the best. I am proud to work alongside this group and equally proud to welcome our new investors, and Steven in particular, into the fold.”

Based on the cult hit graphic novel and designer toy brand Scarygirl, Scarygirl Mission Maybee has been designed as a family-friendly experience for large-scale multiplayer free-roam VR environments. Up to eight players are tasked with saving the world from the evil Dr. Maybee, working closely together to suck up infectious hazardous goo, purify it and blast it back at the hordes of creatures infesting the world.
