Downloadable Demo of Apex Construct now Available on Steam

Fast Travel Games’ Apex Construct became one of VRFocus’ favourite bow-wielding virtual reality (VR) titles of 2018 when it arrived for PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Windows Mixed Reality headsets. A few months after launch PlayStation VR players saw a demo arrive and now PC owners are getting the same treatment.

Apex Construct

The free demo allows players to experience Apex Construct’s first level, then “Following the demo experience, the main game allows you to enter a safe house where you can upgrade your equipment, store collectibles and learn more about what happened to the shattered world,” explains the studio in a statement.

In addition to the demo, Fast Travel Games is then hoping to tempt players to go on and purchase the main videogame by offering a 50 percent discount for a limited time. Until the 28th January Apex Construct is retailing for £12.49 GBP, instead of £24.99.

Since last years release the title has seen several updates to further improve the experience, the most recent being patch 1.05 last week which increased the default free locomotion walking/running + turning speed, as well as making some level and gameplay balancing tweaks.

Apex Construct

Apex Construct is set in a surreal, almost alien world, where players find themselves trapped in a war between two AI’s. Being the last surviving human they must stay alive by any means necessary, which means mastering the only weapon in the videogame, a bow. Of course, this is no ordinary bow and arrow combination as it not only features multiple arrow options for various scenarios but there’s also a handy shield built-in as well.

VRFocus’ five-star review of the title said: “Apex Construct is the standard by which future VR titles will be judged, and an indicator that VR has stepped up its game.”

And in case you missed it, Fast Travel Games’ Andreas Juliusson wrote a guest piece for VRFocus discussing the complexities of trying to market a VR title over standard flat screen videogames.

As Fast Travel Games continues to update and improve Apex Construct, VRFocus will keep you posted on all the latest announcements regarding the popular sci-fi bow experience.
