Admix, who announced a $2.1M fresh capital injection last week, has today completed its acquisition of VRFocus.com, one of the leading publications focussed on AR and VR. As part of a philanthropic effort to assist the developing AR and VR industries, Admix has ensured that VRFocus.com will retain its editorial independence and remain the go-to publication for all the latest news and thought-provoking articles reflecting on immersive technology for many years to come.
Launched in 2014, VRFocus.com has grown to become a true pioneer in the space; first to report breaking industry news and delivering exclusive content from all corners of the world daily. VRFocus.com has remained fiercely independent throughout the last four years, and the acquisition by Admix allows the editorial team to maintain this position and continue its investment in community activities such as the VR Diversity Initiative.
Admix CEO, Sam Huber, says of the acquisition: “When we heard of the opportunity to be a part of it, we did not hesitate: VRFocus is a strong pillar of the VR community. Ask anyone in VR/AR and chances are they are regulars on this site. Can you imagine the VR world without VRFocus?”
Huber goes on to say, “The deal was made easy because our visions are aligned. Admix is all about empowering developers to be successful, through our community VR/AR Pioneers, and VRFocus is about showcasing VR’s awesomeness. Bringing VRFocus as part of the family is another move in that direction.”
With an eye on maintaining VRFocus’ independent content creation Admix has already begun hiring key personnel from the existing VRFocus.com team. Kevin Joyce, former CEO of VRFocus Ltd. and Editor of VRFocus.com, has been retained to oversee the transition, whilst senior members of the team are already back in production of content and coverage of all the latest news and trends.
Joyce says of the deal; “Admix, through its AR/VR Pioneers community, will continue to be centered on marketing tips and resources to help developers build successful VR companies, whilst VRFocus will continue in its role of showcasing the amazing worlds of AR and VR, reporting on its wide reaching community whilst staying completely independent from Admix. VRFocus will keep pushing to celebrate developers, show the best of AR/VR and give readers exclusive access to the industry.”
