Wales Interactive has today launched Time Carnage, a new wave shooter designed specifically for virtual reality (VR), available both digitally and at retail on PlayStation VR, with the physical edition arriving first and a digital edition which includes the title releasing on Steam for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift not long after
Time Carnage sees players immersed in a series of unique battlegrounds across time, including a post-apocalyptic world, prehistoric jungle, icy wasteland and a futuristic metropolis. As the player travels through time they’ll be tasked with hunting down zombies, robots, monsters, dinosaurs and more to bring home their trophy.
The videogame sees players able to equip themselves with a huge variety of weaponry to fend off the enemy hordes, including a baseball bat, chainsaw, bowie knife, Desert Eagle Pistol, Pulser Laser Pistol, 5” Revolver, Vector SMG, Magpul PDR, M4 Carbine, Kalashnikov Rifle, Auto Bullpup Rifle, Double Barrel Thump-Gun, Pump Action Shotgun, Street Sweeper Auto Shotgun, Anti-Material Rifle, QBU-88 Sniper Rifle, Hip Fired HMG, Six-Barrel Minigun, Flamethrower, Slugger Explosive Rifle, RPG-7, SOTA Precision Bow, Medieval Crossbow, Frag Grenade and Time Grenade. New weapons are unlocked with progression through the 16-tier campaign.
In addition to the campaign mode, Time Carnage features a variety of challenge modes which, upon completion, will unlock a selection of cheats to vary up the experience significantly. From tipping the tide in your favour to making things a bit wacky, Time Carnage offers a reason to return after that T-Rex pelt is adorning your wall.
Wales Interactive have been experimenting with VR development for some time, with their debut release, Infinity Runner, launching back in 2014 for Oculus Rift development kits. Time Carnage is the third VR title from the developer, following last year’s well received Don’t Knock Twice, which also saw a physical retail release via Perp Games.
Time Carnage is due to come to retail for Playstation VR on April 6th 2018, and then will be released digitally four days later on the 10th.
“We are proud to be bringing our second Wales Interactive title to market, in Time Carnage.” Declared Managing Director of Perp Games, Rob Edwards. “The team have a lot of exciting things going on and it is great to have such a close relationship. With our retail experience, with their product quality, we have high hopes for our partnership.”
Dai Banner, Edwards’ opposite number at Wales Interactive added: “We’re thrilled to be working alongside Perp Games once again, this time on our first VR-exclusive title. In Time Carnage, we set out to create a challenging survival shooter with a panic-inducing game mechanic. The team had a lot of fun developing this for PlayStation VR and now we look forward to the digital and retail launch this April.”
