It’s what everyone has been waiting for from Oculus Connect 3 this week, the company has now revealed the price and launch date for its highly anticipated Oculus Touch motion controllers.
Revealed during the keynote address today, Oculus’ CEO Brendan Iribe took to the stage to unveil a price of $199 USD for the pair of controllers along with the official launch date of 6th, December, 2016. Pre-orders for the Oculus Touch controllers begin on 10th October, with VR Sports and Unspoken coming free. With the announcement comes a wave of software, some of which has been previously revealed and some which hasn’t.
We’ve known about launch titles such as Insomniac’s Unspoken, Dead & Buried, Rock Band VR from Harmonix, VR Sports Challenge by Sanzaru, Crytek’s The Climb, Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope by Croteam, Pro Fishing Challenge VR by Opus, Schell Games’ I Expect You to Die, Luna by Funomena, Giant Cop by Other Ocean, Job Simulator: The 2050 Archives from Owlchemy Labs, and Fantastic Contraption by Northway Games since June.
While the actual launch date has been fairly secret, an Amazon listing today showed 23rd November, with the price on the other hand being fairly common knowledge. Alongside that Amazon listing VRFocus previously reported on British specialist videogame retailer GAME already setting up pre-orders in September, with advertising boards shown in-store with a price of £189.99 GBP.
This means that the combined price for both Oculus Touch and Oculus Rift will put it in almost the same price bracket as HTC Vive, Oculus’ main rival.
As further announcements are made at Oculus Connect 3, VRFocus will bring you the latest details.
