This week on PlayStation.Blog has been all about RIGS: Mechanized Combat League as the site showcases the virtual reality (VR) titles coming to PlayStation VR. Guerrilla Games has been detailing more information about the launch title, announcing development had been finalised with the videogame going gold as well as new videos. The latest is an arena trailer looking at the four playable levels on offer.
The four arenas are: Rio de Janeiro, Macau, Dubai and Nevada. Each location brings with it its own style, ambiance and gameplay strategies. The Rio de Janeiro arena is set in the mountains above the city, one side overlooks the city while the mountain looms high into the sky on the other side.
Macau is famous for its casinos so naturally the studio took this theme to the next level, creating an arena that’s built half inside and half outside a giant neon lit casino. Dubai wasn’t the first location the team planned have one of the levels, originally it was going to be Monaco, but due to the fictional size of RIGS arenas it was decided at better spot would be off the coast of Dubai.
As RIGS: Mechanized Combat League is set 50 years in the future, Guerrilla Games used the iconic Hoover Dam as the inspiration for the Nevada arena. Now decommission the dam sits at one end of the arena with high sided cliffs on two of the sides.
There’s only three weeks to go until the launch of PlayStation VR, and VRFocus will keep you up to date with the latest software.
