While there are a few virtual reality (VR) videogames available for free on HTC Vive, most are concepts or experimental projects. Most titles on Steam cost money and normally don’t come with anyway of trialling them for free – demos have become a rarity – but there are some developers who know the value in letting players sample their project first. Today Mercury Aerospace Industries has released a demo for its first-person shooter (FPS) VRporize.
The videogame originally launched for the HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD) back in July, and the free to download demo includes five levels from VRporize.
As for the main game itself VRporize is a sci-fi FPS set on Mercury, a research station has lost contact with Earth and its up to you to mount a search and rescue mission to find out what’s going on.
Featuring 29 levels split over three episodes, VRporize includes four weapons – pistol, plasmagun, automatic riffle and a sawed-off shotgun – four difficulty modes – Easy, Medium, Hard, Extreme – and a variety of evil monsters to wade through. Each episode also has a final boss fight to add to the challenge.
If you like VRporize its available to purchase for £10.59 GBP. For all the latest Steam VR news, keep reading VRFocus.
