PlatinumGames Developing Granblue Fantasy to PlayStation VR

At Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan’s (SCIJ) Tokyo Game Show (TGS) press conference today, CyGames Inc. announced a PlayStation 4 edition of the hugely popular smartphone videogame franchise, Granblue Fantasy. Known as Granblue Fantasy: Project Re:Link, this new vision for the series will be playable on PlayStation VR and is being developed by PlatinumGames.

A new gameplay trailer was showcased at the event, along with the reveal of the first character. A returning character from previous Granblue Fantasy titles, the well armed female warrior will be the star of Granblue Fantasy: Project Re:Link with more details promised to be revealed soon.

Koichi Haruta, Granblue Fantasy Producer, CyGames, Inc., took to the stage after the trailer to discuss the videogame, though few further details were offered. Haruta stated that Granblue Fantasy: Project Re:Link was designed ‘for high-end users’, suggesting that this action-RPG title would be targeted towards the core gamer demographic, but failed to reveal much more in the way of gameplay details.

Granblue Fantasy: Project Re:Link is set for release in 2018, for which Haruta stated that CyGames are ‘accommodating not only PlayStation 4 but also PlayStation VR’.
