PlayStation VR on Demonstration at 2016 GameStop EXPO

Taking place later this week is the annual GameStop Expo in Anaheim, California. The event will feature the latest big name videogames and virtual reality (VR) technology. Confirmed for attendance is the PlayStation VR head-mounted display (HMD) from Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE).

The PlayStation VR has its own dedicated booth for the 2016 GameStop EXPO and although SIE hasn’t announced it, the company will likely be running some form of appointment booking for demo slots as it has for events such as the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in June and EGX 2016 later this month. There’s also been no confirmation yet of which videogames will be on display, but expect some of the bigger name titles to be present.

“When you’re in VR, you’re not a spectator; you’re a participant. You’re not watching someone in a space ship; you’re IN the space ship. You’re not watching the tank; you’re DRIVING the tank,” said Eric Bright, senior director of merchandising for GameStop. “VR content also showcases a wide variety of situations, from real-life underwater adventures to defending yourself from space pirates in a 360-degree environment, to creating art on a canvas. There’s something for everyone.

“Additionally, two days after National Video Game Day at our GameStop EXPO in Anaheim, CA, on September 14, fans will get to see, test and play all the latest VR technology, including the highly-anticipated PlayStation VR system before its release next month. Fans will also experience all the latest games, technologies, accessories, meet celebrities and play with collectibles while learning what’s hot for the holidays this year.”

The 2016 GameStop EXPO is a one day event taking place this Thursday, 14th September, opening its doors from 11am – 6pm, unless visitors have purchased a VIP ticket which allows entry at 9:30am.
